STC Certificates explained
What is a REC?

When you install solar power, solar water heating and other renewable energy technologies you are helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This entitles you to receive environmental credits called Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)

Eligible renewable energy power stations and small-scale systems are entitled to renewable energy certificates based on the amount of electricity they produce or displace. These certificates can be created in the REC Registry and sold to buyers in the market or for small-scale systems through the STC Clearing House. This process encourages investment in large-scale and small-scale renewable energy.

Renewable energy certificates (RECs) are classified as large-scale generation certificates (LGCs) for power stations, and small-scale technology certificates (STCs) for scale-scale renewable energy systems.

LGCs are created in the REC Registry by accredited renewable energy power stations. One LGC is equivalent to 1MWh (megawatt hour) of eligible renewable electricity generated above the power station’s baseline.

Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs)
STCs are created in the REC Registry for eligible solar water heaters, air source heat pumps, and small-scale solar panels, wind and hydro systems, following installation. One STC is equivalent to 1MWh (megawatt hour) of:

renewable electricity generated by small-scale solar panel, small-scale wind or hydro systems, or
electricity displaced by the installation of a solar water heater or air source heat pump.

Not sure what this all means! Let ‘All Energy HQ’ look after the red tape. We will apply the Certificates as a discount to your installation. No need to do any more.
